James was appointed Honorary Consul of Australia in Colorado in May 2018.
Born in Perth, Western Australia, he has lived in Colorado since 2004. In that time James has worked with the Downtown Denver Partnership and Denver B-cycle. Currently he is the mobility director at the local non-profit advocacy organization Bicycle Colorado.
James is president of the local Australian expat community group AusDenver providing opportunities for Australians looking to connect with each other and for Americans to connect with Australians. He also served as President of the Denver Bulldogs Australian Rules Football Club and was a board member of the USAFL, the national governing body of Australian Football in the US.
James was a member of the Australian national baseball team that played in the Olympic pre-tournament in Barcelona in 1992. He then went on to be a professional baseball scout for the New York Mets, ultimately leading to a relocation to the US.
James resides in the Five Points neighborhood of Denver with his wife Amy and son Cooper.
