Paul Maricle was appointed the Honorary Consul of Germany in 2015 for the states of Colorado and Wyoming.
Mr. Maricle received his undergraduate degree in Modern Foreign Languages (German) cum laude with departmental honors from Washburn University of Topeka and his Juris Doctor degree from Washburn University Law School. After law school, he served as law clerk to the Honorable Justice Richard Holmes of the Kansas Supreme Court.
Mr. Maricle has a passion for German culture and language. He spent a year attending gymnasium in Krefeld, Germany in 1971-72 as an American Field Service foreign exchange student. He then was awarded a scholarship by Rotary International and studied a year at the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität in Bonn (1975-76). After his clerkship on the Kansas Supreme Court, he received a scholarship to study the German legal system from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in Düsseldorf in 1981-82. In 1983, Mr. Maricle worked as an intern at the Federation of German Industries (BDI) in Cologne and then he worked a year at Jauch & Hübner, Germany’s largest insurance brokerage in Mühlheim/Ruhr. Mr. Maricle is a founding member, past president, and current board member of the German American Chamber of Commerce – Colorado Chapter in Denver and is a director of the German Cultural Foundation. Mr. Maricle is fluent in English and German.
Mr. Maricle moved to Denver in 1984 and went into private practice. He is currently a Member of Castle Lantz Maricle, LLC. Mr. Maricle’s practice focuses on the areas of business and corporate law, international business and commercial transactions. He has extensive experience in these areas including stock and asset purchase agreements, distribution agreements, licensing agreements, employment agreements, corporate governance, export regulation, commercial arbitration, mergers & acquisitions and bankruptcy-related issues. Mr. Maricle also regularly assists Germans with probate matters in Colorado.
